Introduction

Uni:Note helps you organize handwritten notes and PDFs on iPad and review them using recordings, sticky markers and study tools.

Which devices and OS versions are supported?

Requires an iPad running iPadOS 17.0 or later.

Handwriting uses iPad and Apple Pencil. Fingers scroll and manipulate attachments. No separate app account is required. Japanese, English, Korean, German, Traditional Chinese and French are supported.

Notes and attachments

What if a note stops growing or cannot be found?

A note is limited to 150 pages. Create another note in the subject when needed. Leaving a new title blank uses the date. Search only covers entered note titles, not handwriting, page text, PDFs or subject names.

Notebook orientation cannot be changed after creation. Deleting a folder keeps its subjects. Trash can restore subjects and notes, but not deleted pages, practice sets or permanently erased items. Protected notes cannot be written in.

Subjects and notes in Trash are permanently removed during cleanup after 30 days. Restore anything you need before then.

Switching and searching notes

Can I zoom or move a handwritten area?

Pinch with two fingers to zoom. Range Move selects and moves whole handwriting strokes. Move photos, PDFs and sticky markers separately.

Zoom and handwriting controls

What if I cannot move a photo or PDF?

Double-tap a locked photo or PDF to unlock it. Moving attachments is separate from Range Move for handwriting. To erase only handwriting, use Clear Page in eraser settings.

PDF insertion still respects the 150-page limit. Split large documents across notes if needed. Photo, document-photo, PDF insertion and export steps are in the visual guide.

Study support

Why are recording or transcription unavailable?

Recording, playback and transcript viewing require Premium. Microphone access is required when recording. Transcription needs iPadOS 26 or later plus a supported Apple speech model and language. The app explains unsupported conditions; recording and playback remain available.

Recordings split every 30 minutes, with five per note. AI summaries use existing transcript text, not audio-file uploads. Include recording audio when exporting a backup if you want restored or Pocket playback.

Where are sticky markers and AI tools?

Enable sticky markers and Problem Solver Assistant in Study Support settings. Tap each sticky separately to reveal or hide it; the old whole-page mask switch is no longer used.

Answers, practice-set generation and AI summaries share AI balance, shown in the plan screen. Long passages, open-ended questions or diagram-heavy problems may not be supported. Check results against your materials. The guide separates upcoming 3.5.0 features from the public version.

Data

How are backups, stored data and diagnostics handled?

Notes are stored in the app. Easy Backup saves and restores an iCloud file; it does not sync notes automatically. Zip export and file restoration are available without Premium. Follow the app’s instruction to reopen it after restoration.

Technical crash diagnostics may be sent through Firebase Crashlytics. Note text, handwriting, images, PDFs and recording contents are not included in diagnostic logs. See the Privacy Policy in the support links below for details.

Purchases

How do Free and Premium differ?

Free allows 10 subjects and 6 notes per subject. Premium removes those limits and enables recording and Easy Backup. Range Move and note-title search are also available in Free. Check current prices and purchases in the in-app plan screen.

How do I purchase AI Balance?

Check the amount and purchase conditions in the plan screen before buying additional AI Balance. The same balance is used for answers, practice-set generation and AI summaries. It is a separate product from the one-time Premium purchase. If crediting takes time, follow the app’s instructions and check your balance.

Help

Why does my screen look different?

Language, left-handed settings and the subject label affect the UI. The published 3.4.0 and upcoming 3.5.0 also differ in Note List shortcuts and toolbar customization. Unreleased operations are marked in the guide.

Check Notices in the Settings support section for in-app update information. Multiwindow controls depend on iPadOS.
