Uni:Note Pocket is a companion app for reviewing Uni:Note backups on iPhone.
It is not a writing app. Its job is to load backup data, let you review notes and Question Sets, and play recording audio.
Requirements:
- iPhone only
- a backup zip created in Uni:Note, or a Uni:Note
Easy Backupon this iPhone - focused on viewing and review, not editing or sync
1. Read the first companion notice
On first launch, the app shows About Uni:Note Pocket.
This notice explains that Uni:Note Pocket is a companion app for Uni:Note and that you need a backup from Uni:Note before you can use it.
2. Choose a backup from the import icon
Use the import icon in the bottom right of Home and select a backup zip from Uni:Note.
- choose the zip
- let the app validate its contents
- finish the import if it is valid
3. Use Easy Backup
If this iPhone already has a Uni:Note Easy Backup, the app can ask whether you want to load it right away.
In Settings > Easy Backup, you can check:
- Last Updated
- Auto Load on Launch
- Load Manually
When Auto Load on Launch is on, the app loads automatically only when a usable Uni:Note Easy Backup is available on this iPhone.
4. Check Notes, Recent Notes, and Question Sets
After import, Home lets you switch between Notes and Question Sets. The main screen shows:
- top-level subjects with note counts
- a Recent Notes section for quick resume
- a Question Sets section when the imported backup includes saved sets
- indicators for notes that include recording audio or sticky markers
The top-level label changes according to Subject Name in Settings.
5. Open Notes and review pages
When you open a subject, you can move into the Notes list and choose what to review.
- open the note list
- choose a note
- review pages in a continuous vertical flow
- play recordings from the page view when the note includes recording audio
Uni:Note Pocket is read-only, so it does not rename notes or edit pages.
6. Zoom and read in the page view
In the page view, you can focus on reading the imported content.
- pinch to zoom in or out
- double tap to zoom
- move through pages with vertical scrolling
7. Play recordings
When the backup includes recording audio, notes with recordings show a recording button in the page view.
- use Play Recording to start playback
- choose from Recordings when multiple recordings are available
- control play / pause, stop, playback position, and playback speed
Uni:Note Pocket only plays recordings. Recording creation, editing, transcription, and AI summaries stay on the Uni:Note side. If the backup does not include the recording audio, it cannot be played.
8. Review Question Sets
If the imported backup includes Question Sets saved in Uni:Note, you can open them from Question Sets on Home.
- review saved questions and answers
- move through the saved set in one place
- keep creation and editing on the Uni:Note side
9. Check sticky markers
In the note list, notes with sticky markers show an indicator. When you open the page, the markers are shown on the page in the Uni:Note v3.0.0 sticky marker style.
- tap a marker to switch between normal and faint display
- older memorization masks are automatically converted to sticky markers when you open the note
Uni:Note Pocket does not edit sticky markers or the memorization mask itself.
10. Adjust Settings
In Settings, you can mainly change:
- Language
- Theme
- Resume Last Location
- Prevent Horizontal Drift
- Subject Name
- Easy Backup
Subject Name lets you rename the top-level label to Subject / Note / Group / Category.
11. Import a newer backup later
When you create a newer backup in Uni:Note, use the import icon in the bottom right of Home again in Uni:Note Pocket.
If you use Easy Backup, you can also refresh it from Settings > Easy Backup > Load Manually.
The app switches only after the new zip passes validation.
If validation fails, the previous imported data stays in place and the app shows an error.
